PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY.

At tho ordinary fortnightly meeting of the society, held at its rooms on Friday evening last, Mr. Denton, the president delivered an interesting and instructive lecture, illustrated by a large number of splendid lantern slides, taken by himself, and describing his sojourn in India. Pictures of tho Suez Canal introduced' tho main theme of tho lecture, namely, life amongst the Himalayas in and around Simla. The many side-lights on tho habits and environment of the local residents, both native and British, thrown, upon tho screen, and the full and often amusing stories told •by tho lecturer, were much appreciated by tho large gathering of members and friends. A hearty vote of thanks was tendered to Mr. Denton for his splendid lecture.
