In England ho is said to liavo attracted great crowds to his meetings. -He is not onh renowned for his earnest evangelistic act dresses,.but also for his practical interest in all that pertains to tho welfare ol his 'fellows. In London, when tho first Hackney liorough Council was about to bo formed, he was , a candidate, and, although tlicro were a.great many competitors for tho position, ho was returned at tho head of the poll, his majority being more than double that of any' other successful candidate. Ho took a practical interest ill tho unemployed, district nurses, and charitable organisations, and was a member of the King Edward's Coronation Dinner Committee, wliicli arranged for 10,000 to dine. Mr. Cook seeks to benefit his fellow-men not only by appealing to them from tho pul- ■ pit mid platform, urging them to live strong, pure lives, and by seeking to deal in a practical manner with the social problems of the age, but lie also wields a facilo pen, and is an author of some note, his principal productions being: "Js There a God?" "Lectures to Working Men on the Clarion and Cliristianity/' "Everyday Evangelism," "Should Christians bo Socialists?" and "Queens of tho Bible." I . . . • Ho lias come to our Dominion for a few months, at the request of the New Zealand Methodist ConferenSe, to conduct ."Missions of Inspiration and t Appeal, and having had successful missions in tho South Island, he is about to spend a fortnight in Wellington, 'Ho is accompanied by Mrs. Cook, who is described as oil accomplished speaker, and is ated with him in mission work. Iho Central mission band will lead the street processions, and a large united choir wilt sing Alexander hymns at all weck-uight *ervice=. - Although the meetings are to bo held in AVesley Church, and under the auspices of l.ho Jlothodist Church, Mi. Cook earnestly desires it' to be known that all who 'come to his meetings aro heartily welcome. '
