SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications are tor strong southerly winds, probably changing by west to northerly after 24 to 36 hours. The barometer has a rising tendency at. present, but will probably fall in the south again shortly for another westerly diss turbance. Cold and showery weather probable generally, but a, temporary improvement may be expected soon. Strong- and squally southerly winds have prevailed, with cold and showery weather. Some snow has fallen on higher levels in the south. The barometer has had a rising tendency, but has been lowest today about Cook Strait.. D. C. BATES. Meteorological Olilce. A cold southerly wind sprang up in the afternon.
