M'CALLUM (Wairau) gave notice to ask tho Minister for Mnrino whether he will offer a substantial bonus for the discovery of one or_moro oyster, beds in close proximity to New Zealand shores. Mr. C. A. WILKINSON (Egmont) gavo notice to ask tho Minister for Railway's whether 'he would consider th© advisability of running a dining-car on iho mail trains between Wanganui and New Plymouth. DIJ. A. K. NEWMAN (Wellington East) gave notice to ask the Government whether thoy would extend tho national park at Tongariro, and preserve its special flora and fauna. Mr. W. NOSWORTHY (Ashburton) gavo jiotioe to ask the Minister for Lands whether ho would consider tho advisability of abolishing .the • Land ' -Purchase Board, and vesting tho powers now exercised by the board in< tho District Lasd Boards of the Dominion. . NEWMAN (Hangitikei) asked a question of the Minister for Railways as to whether there was any truth in the report that, owing l to the defective condition of a bridge in tho Wangauui district, ia train Jaad recently .very nearly oome to, grief when going over it. The Hon. W H. HERRIES (Minister for Railways) said that ho had no information on the subject; had, in fact, never heard of it before, but he would have inquiries made as to whether there was any truth in the report.
MOTIONS FOR RETURNS. Eifteen motions for returns were allowed ■to pass unopposed by tho Government. The returns to be Granted have reference to the Defence Act. prosecutions and the like, to the Public Trust Office, the Post Office Savingii Bank, the State Advances Department, the cost of trips abroad made by Ministers in recent years, and other matters of less importance.
