A- MASS OF INFORMATION. ' , There was presented to the House of Representatives last week a tremeadoua mass of information bearing: upon the subject of CD-pa.rtner.-hip. This was procured chiefly from England, at a cost of no littlo trouble, and will now bo available for members of tho House who desire to study this method of solving labour problems. The information was collected at tho request of Mr. T. M. Wilford (Lower llutt), who on July $ of last year moved: "That it bo an instruction to the Govermyont to at onco obtain for this II oil so full information and statistics in refcr-< enca to tho profit-sharing and co-partnor-eliio operations of tho thirty gas companies in Great Britain, and to furnish to this House at onco any information it may bo in possession of an relation to tho same, and especially tho statistics pro* (lucwl by Sir George Livesey in relation to Ea:l Groy's suggestions relative to prolix sharing and co-partnership. 'J'ho collection of those papors affords » good indication of tho trouble taken to satisfy members' thirst for knowledge. Tho task was undertaken by tho Department for Internal Affairs, and t tho Under* Secretary (Mr. J. Ilislop), the papers collected, reported that thirty.' two companies had been written. 1 to for their publications and records. Four only of the companies made no response. ilu others woro generous in meeting tho request from New Zealand, and forwarded every possible particular, ranging from reports ami to copies of acrcements and historic pamphlets oi the Erowtli of different institutions. As mnnv as ton or twelve documents were forwarded by some companies, anil the wiioio made a solid pilo of alxiut live inchcs in depth of foolscap size. Some of tho most valuable records came from the boutli Metropolitan Gas Company, Loudon, where the system of co-partnership' lias been in vogue for over 22 years. When tho papers wero presented, Mr. Wilford said ho desired to precipitate a discussion on this subject this session, and inquired if members could obtain facilities for perusing tho documents. Tho Trmio Minister replied that it was obviously impossible for such a pi o ot matter to be reprinted, but lie would b® glad to extend every facility to any member for becoming acquainted with tho contents of tho publications.
