Baldwin (cliairman), M'Ewan, Townsend, Brocklebank, Hobbs, Organ, and Hodgins. A letter was read from the Hope of Petone Lodge thanking the Peton.o Council for instructing its delegates to oppose tho sale of liquor oniho park—Received. ! l'he Eastbourne Borough Council wrote intimating that the Mayor' (Mr. W. J. Organ) had been reappointed- to the committee— Received.

l'he Hutt Council intimated that it had decided regarding the Hutt Park leases, that Clause 9 (prohibiting the sale of liquor) in the agreement was unnecessary—Received.

Hie Petone Council wrote stating that it was opposed to tho sale of liquor on the park. Received.

Tho Petone Council informed the committee that the Mayor (Mr. J. W. M'Ewan)' had been elected to fill the vacancy caused by Councillor Wright's' resignation.—Received. A deputation from'.the Hutt-Electorate No-License League waited on the committee; The Bev;-~JV J;- Lewis (president) stated that their organisation "had nothing to say against the sport of racing. He believed, however, that, in the interests of sport, it would be unwise to increase licenses, and lie earnestly urged tho committee (apart from total abstin-, enco principles) to act in that direction. The chairman then outlined the negotiations that had taken place between the Hutt Valley Trotting' Club and the committee.

■Mr. Townsend moved: "That we reaffirm the. policy of the old committee, .i.e., that itibo.,a.condition.in leaving or. 'lettingrihe- nark,thafr.no: alcoholic liquors 1 shall be' -sold on the grounds." ■ The motion was subsequently withdrawn in view of a legal opinion which pointed out that the committee had no right to .allow .training on:.tlie park. , It was then, .decided to inform the Trotting Club (under the opinion of Findlay, Dalziell and Co.) that the committee had no legal right to lease the ground for training purposes. On the motion of Mr. Organ seconded by Mr. M'Ewan, it was decided "that, in the opinion .of this committee tho Hutt l'ark should be relieved of rates, and that the matter bo left in the hands of the chairman and the mover." OTHER ITEMS.. • Tho Upper Hutt Town Board met on Monday evening last, all commissioners being-present. Owing to tho amount of rqutino business transacted, it was decided to adjourn until Monday evening next .'consideration, of tho schedule' duties of .tho incoming clerk and the discussion of the plans submitted by Mr. Joseph Dawson, bridge designer and constructor in connection with the proposed pipe bridge over the Akatarawn.

Ihe Rev. A. J. Seainer, of St. Kilda, had the misfortune recently to break a rib as tho .result of a fall. His friends in the Hutt Valley will ba pleased to lenrn that he is recovering". At' a special meeting of the Petone Borough Council last evening, Mr. J. W. M'Ewan was elected delegate to.tho Hutt Park Committee. Some discussion took place regarding the manner in which the notices had beeii sent out, Councillor Anderson hinting that, even though, thero was a No-License campaign in the air, tho standing orders of the. council must be adhered to.
