IBt Qlskcob.l Roosevelt's owner telegraphed to accept his horse in the Parliamentary Handicap, but his message reached Mr. A. E.WTiyte a few minute 3 after 9 o'clock last night, and the acceptance, had therefore to be declined. Judicial committees to act with the stipendiary stewards at Trentham next week have been appointed by the Wellington Racing Club's stewards. On tho first day Messrs. J. B. Coates, J. G. Duncan, and W. H. S. Moorhouse will act, and on the second day the committee will bo Messrs. Orton Stevens, Neil M'Lean, and David Nathan. A meeting of the District Committee of the Wellington Racing Club was held yesterday when the Woodlands Hunt Club programme wa3 passed. Jockeys licenses were granted to J. H. Stephens, S. Pere, and T. Durrant. The Wellington Racing Club stewards lave passed ft resolution expressing appreciation of the action of the Canterbury Jockey Club in deferring the weights for the Grand Nationals until after the Trentham races. The resolution is to be forwarded to the Canterbury Club witli the thanks of the Wellington stewards. Trentham trainers recently forwarded a petition to the Wellington Racing Club asking for more facilities for galloping on tho grass during the winter months. Tho petition was considered at yesterday's meeting of the club's stewards, and it was decided to instruct the caretaker to grant the use of grass gallop 3 whenever possible and to push on with tho construction of the new grass gallop immediately. The V.R.C. Grand National meeting will be continued at Flemington to-mor-roiv and concluded on Saturday. MessTs. T. Hoult and Sons, of Aorangi, suffered a serious loss on Saturday, Fays out Feilding correspondent, when the impoVted horee Sylvanite died as the result of lockjaw, contracted through a rusty nail entering a hoof. Sylvanite was the winner of two Derbies and' the CaulfipM: Guineas, besides several other Australian riw)Lagt Aujntet Sylvanite proved a renowned sire. He was valued at GOO guineas, and was uninsured.
