(By Telogrraph—Prosa Association.) v OUT ON HEAVY BAIL. Christchurch, July 7. Arthur Thomas Kekl, alias Lloyd, and Walter Medley Hails ton again appeared at tko Polico Court this morning, charged with breaking and entering, and, npon the application of the polico, were remanded till Thursday. This morning Hulstoii was also charged, in conjunction with lie id, with breaking and entering tho house of Hannah Pringle, and stealing vaftous articles. Both accused pleaded not guilty. Chief Detective Bishop opposed tlio granting of bail on the ground that there wore further charges pending. The police, ho raid, had recovered some of tlio missing jewellery, but a lot of it had not yet been found. The Magistrate said that ho would make the bail substantial, and granted the same in self of £400, and two sureties of .£2OO each. BUILDERS' LABOURERS WAGES. Auckland, July 7. The Conciliation Council met this morning to consider the dispute between the builders' labourers and employers. The Conciliation Commissioner (Mr. T. Harlo Giles) said that it would bo within the memory of all that tho union lad thought fit to canoel its registration under the Act, and for sorno time was without any award. It was with groat pleasure that ho welcomed tho union back into tho fold, and die congratulated members upon the re-re#istration. Ho firmly believed it was the most effective way of securing a satisfactory industrial agreement. Tho chief points of difference in the dispute (which is not yet settled) a.ro demands on tho union's part for shorter hours and increased wages. DEVONPORT FERRY COMPANY. Auckland, July 7. Tho annual meeting of shareholders of tho Devouport Ferry Company was held to-day. The report showed a net profit of .£5215. Tho directors recommended a 10 per rent, dividend foe tho half-year. An extraordinary general meeting was held subsequently, when tho proposal to increase the share capital from .£50,000 to .£150,000 by the creation of new shares was carried. SHIRKERS. Wanganul, July 7. At tho S.M. Court two Territorials were charged with not attending the annual camp. One was fined XI, and tho other £2. The latter was further charged with not attending company parades, and was fined an additional £1. BRIEF MENTION. Dunedin, July 7. All ths retiring members of tho Education. Board were re-olectod. Auckland, July 7. John Forbes, licensee of tho Suffolk Hotel, was fined .£2 and costs on a charge of supplying liquor to three youths under 21 years of age. The three youths concerned, who pleaded guilty to falsely representing themselves as being over 21 years of age, were eudhi fined J!1 and costs.
Invorcargill, July 7. At a meeting of tho Band, Contest Committee to-night it was stated that eleven band 9 had notified that they would compete at a contest under the local association. It was decided to communicate with other bands and secure definite replies as to whether they will compete. Tho strike ot corporation 6ewage workers is practically off as tho places of the strikers have been filled, and work is proceeding as usual. Tho llugby Union decided to-night to confirm the match with the Maori team on Wednesday, July 16.
