ANGLICAN SYNOD.
The session of the Wellington Diocesan Synod was continued yesterday afternoon, and evening, liis Lordship Bishop Sprott presiding. Mr. G. Sliirtcliffo introduced a motion requesting vicars and synodsmcn to take steps to make known as widely as possible amongst tho church people of the diocese the details of the scheme of General Synod for tho celebration of the Marsden centenary; and that the churchwardens of each parish and parochial district be requested to form a strong committee to undertake tho work of securing subscribers towards the .£IOOO guarantee fund required in connection with the proposed Church Congress at Auckland, and subscriptions to tho ,£20,000 memorial fund, such committees to send in n. progress report to tho Standing Committee at tho end of each quarter, commencing at September 30 next. The motion was carried unanimously, after a short discussion. A Bill was introduced by Mr. E. H. Hadfield to amend Act VII, which deals with pensions. The first amendment proposed altered Clause 8 to read: "In each year, before the payment of any pensions or grants, the sum of .£IOOO shall bo paid out of tho current rovenue to tho capital account." Tho original provision was for the yearly payment of .£IOO. Tho other amendment was to Clause 9 (c), raising tho maximum pension from .£IOO to JJI-10 per annum. The second reading of the Bill was carried on the voices, and tho Synod wont into committee to consider the details. . Tho Synod will sit again this afternoon.
