THE QUESTION OF CONTROL.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—ln your editorial comments on the recommendations submitted to the Government by tho directors of the Bank of New Zealand, in connection with the readjustment of tho banks affairs, y ol J point out that no mention is made at ol of tho extent to which the State should exercise the power to control tho bank bv means of its nominees on the Boaixl of Directors, and by virtue of its power to appoint an auditor with considerable authority In this connection I would like to sav that such control and power already exist, and it has never beon contemplated by the board, as ft whole, to surest to the Government any alterations in relation thereto.—l am, etc., HAROLD BEAUCHAMP.
