MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Before Mr. W. G. Riddell. S.M., at the Magistrate's Court yesterday Walter Leonard Sim was charged with the theft at Johnsonvillo of .£ls 10s., the money of David M'Gregor. The oase wag remanded till tliis morning.

Robert J. P. Lucas was charged with refusing to obey certain orders in respect to his duties whilst being a person in military custody at Alexandra barracks. Lieutenant Richmond, R.N.Z.A., said that

this offender had refused to work, to give up his civilian clothes or to have a bath. Lucas was ordered to undergo a further term of seven days' military custody.

Charlc9 Stratford, the driver, and Thos. M'Kelvey were jointly charged with illtreating a horse. Stratford was fined 205., and! ifil 129. costs; and M'Kelvey was fined £Z, and lis. costs, in default seven days' imprisonment each. Charles Pynn was fined 10s. and 7s. costsi for driving a motor-car at a greater speed' than eight miles an hour when crossing a street intersection. For driving an express on the wrong side of a street John Potts was fined 55., and 7s. costs. For a similar offence Charles Press was fined a similar amount.

A fine of 10s. and 7s. costs was imposed •on Alexander Coutta for leaving <v vehicle in Willis Street unattended.

Lawrence Bevon .'was ordered to pay 7s. costs for riding a bicycle without a

light. Wah ICeo Bros, were fined 40s. and 7s. costs for employing an assistant after hours.

George Pinnock was fined 20s. and 13s. costs for acting as driver of a taxi-cab without a license.

The following were ordered to pay 7s. costs for keeping unregistered dogs:— Bertha Moses, H. Moore, and Forster Nattras.

On the application of Mary Ann Rogers a prohibition order was granted against Charles W. Rogers. For allowing twenty-four oows to be at largo at Ivhandallah, Patrick Cavanagli was fined 40s. and costs £2 10s., in default seven days' imprisonment. The following persons _ were fined] for drunkenness Mary Collins, 205.; James Blake, 10a.; Wm. Lewis. 19s.
