Messrs. Dalgcty pnd Company, Ltd. (Masterton branch),' renort having offered at their Solway Bale yesterday a good yarding of sheep and a fair entry of cattle. The attendance of buyers was good, and competition all through was better than previous sales. Among the lots offered was one especially good line 'of 150 woolly hoggots. which sold under animated competition at the satisfactory price of 14s. 7d.; 120 medium shorn wether hoggets. 10a. 6d.: 100-cull hoggets. Bs. 7d. The auctioneer also offered on account of Mr. B. It. Slack, of Palmereton North. 35 stud Southdown ewes. Keen competition took place for the different lines, and each lot was sold under tile hammer at undermentioned prices —Nine 4-tooth Southdown ewes. 3i guineas-, eight 2-tooth ditto, 23 guineas: 18 f.f.m. ditto, 23 guineas. Cattle: Forward cows. £4 10s. to £5 145.: store cowe, £4: Shorthorn bull, . £6. Tho New Zealaud Loan and Ifercantilo Agency Co., Ltd., Paliucrston North, report:—At Itongotea, on Wednesday a small entry .of sheep and cattle met with a good sale, and the following prices were realised:—.Sheep: Cull ewes, 7a. 9d.: fat lambs, 15s. 3d. Cattle: Store cowa, £2 Bs. 6d. to £2 195.: forward cows, £4 to £4 18s.; fat cows, £5 3s. to £6 2s. 6d. Messrs. W. and O. Turnbull and Co., Ltd. (late James Macintosh and Co.), report having held their weekly sale in their Waipoua vards (Mn.?terton) on Wednesday. when they offered a good yarding of both sheen and cattle .(but not quite up to advertised numbers), which mot with very- keen competition through the sale, praetically the whole yarding changing hands at prices well in advance of loto ealcs. Quotations arc as follow:—Fat wetliorfi, 19s. 3d. to £1 3s. An important sale of stock was conducted ot Woodvillc yesterday by Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., when Mr. J. Burt Vealc's Jersey cattle were auctioned. There wa6 animated competition, and record prices for Uawke's Ray were realised. Buyers wero present from Canterbury, Taranaki, Manawatu, Wairarapa, and other parte of the Dominion. Tho highest prico paid was by Mr. S. E. Lancaster, of Palmerston North, for a semiofficial test pedigree cow, "Dusky Girl," which was sold to him for 99 guineas. Mr. Lancaster also secured a number of other high-priced stock, but the heaviest purchaser was Mr. J. D. Brown, of Otaki, who secured a good line of 14 pedigree cows and heiffers and one grade cow. Mr. H. A. Bunny, of Ahiaruho, Carterton, also eccured a valuable addition to his heTd. The highest price for grade cows was paid by Mr. H. W r . Gieson, Dannevirke, viz., 35 guineas for the well-known cow, "Charity." This buyer secured altogether nine choice grade cows and one heifer.The following is a list of prices:—Pedigree stock—Bulls: 4 years, 16gne.; 3 years, 36Jgn,s.; yearling bulls, 12gns. to 24gns„ average 16igns. Cow*: 23gns., 40gnj-., 51 gns., 64gm*., 70gns., 99gne. (the 17 cows averaging slightly over 43gn.5.); heifers, 18gns., 28gn«., 40gns., 58gns„ to 66gns. (tho nine heifers averaging 372giics.). Grade stock—Cows: lOgns., 15Jgn,s., lfiigns., IBgns., 20gns., 25gns., 3ogns., to 55gns. (the 21 head averaging'slightly over 17gns.).; heifers in calf, 9£gns., llgns., 12Jgns., 16gns., 17Jgns., to 21gns. (the twelve head averaging 15 gns.); yearling heifers, 4gns., sgns., 6Jgns., 7gns., to Bgn-s. (the eeven head averaging 6igns.); Pedigree Berkshire pigs realised the following prices Boars, up to signs.; sows, up to 6Jgna. BTJRNSIDE M/#RKET. (By Telegraph.—Frees Association.) Dunedln, July 2. At Burnside market to-day 203 fa,t cattle were yarded. The entry included about 50 good bullocks, the balance being cows and heifers, many "of, which were of medium quality. Prices were slightly easier than last week's rates. Extra heavy bullocks, to £15 12s. 6d.; good. £11 10s. to £13; medium, £8 10s-. to £9 10s.: extra heavy heifers, to £12 17s. 6d.: good oows and heifers. £7 10s. to £9 10s.; medium, £5 10s. to £6 15s. Fat sheep: 3360 penned, including? several pens of prime. Prices- were a shade better than last week. Freezing buyers weTe operating keenly for suitable sorts. Extra heavy wethers, to £1 lid.: heavy, £1 ss. to £1 7s: 6d.; good, £1 Is. to £1 3s. 6d,: lighter, 18s. 6d., £1: extra heavy ewes, to £1 7s. 6d.; good, 18s. to £1 25.; medium. 12s. 6d. to 15s. Fat lambs, £1 18s. 5d.. As usual, export buyers were operating, but prices were slightly easier, and may be quoted at 9d. to lOd. per head lower than last week s rates. Extra heavy, to £1 3s. 3d.; £ood. 17s. 6d. to 19s. 6d.; medium, 15s. 6a. to Pigs.—There was a small yarding, the entry totalling 72. Prices were firm. Heavy baconers, to £3 155.; light do., £2 15s. to £3 55.; porkers, £\ 53. to £2 12s. 6d.
