Fraulein Schalck, tlio Austrian journalist, interviewed regarding lier impressions of New Zealand, declared that living was rough' everywhere, but that the people were contented, and those in. the country did not want to sell and go to live in the cities, as they did in Australia. Instead, they saved up in the cities, and were able to go and live ill the country. In New Zealand they ha\l what they called local patriotism, and they were dull.
