BISHOP CROSSLEY RESIGNS.
: <• CONTINUED ILL-HEALTH. (By Telegraph.—Pr«ai v>ioola.t\on.l Auckland, July 1. Notification of the resignation of Dr. 0. T. L. Crossley, consecrated Anglican Bishop of Auckland on April 25, 1911, has bwn received by his commissary (Arch.deacon Calder). The notice of resignation of the See will be sent by Dr. Grossley to -the Primate of New Zealand (Bishop Nevill), and, later,'he will officially communicate it to the commissary. So mo weeks ago Dr. Crossley suffered a serious nervous breakdown, and, accepting the advice of his medical attendant, went to Sydney, accompanied by Mrs.'Crossley, soiling on June 2. The rest has not had the beneficial effccts that wero exp;cted, and Bishop Crossley has now decided to resign. At present 'ho is in Brisbane, and, in arriving at his decision, he has b;en guided by the advice of tho Archbishop of Brisbane (Dr. Donaldson), Bishop Stone-Wigg, Dr. Mnrsack, of Auckland, and Dr. Hood,' of Sydney. Bishop Crossley will sail for England at the end of July. It is not expected that he will return to Auckland before his departure. , Dunedin,, July 1. With reference to the statement that Bishop Uiosslev has resigned the Bishopric of Auckland, the Primate (Bishop Neville) states that he has received a telegram from Bishop Crossley's agent in Auckland informing him that letters are being sent regarding Bishop Crossley's future plans. The Primate has been asked to take no steps, and to make no definite announcement until he receives the letters.
