ULSTER GUN-RUNNERS.
1 TRUTH . ABOUT THE ITALIAN RIFLES. By Telecraph—Press Association—Conyrteht London, Juaje 30. With regard to the rifles in a stable at Hammersmith, at present being waitched by m«n from Scotland Yard, it transpires that a magistrate had authorised the Gunmakers' Company to affix proof of mark on the rifles, enabling the company to dispose of them. A wharfinger gave evidence that the rifles had been consigned to London as obsolete. It was previously stated that the rifle* were of Italian manufacture, magazine pattern, with simple mechanism, suitable for irregulars, and worth 30s. each. The absence of the English proof mark .is an offence against the excise laws. It was thought that rifles consigned to Dublin and Belfast, and seized by the Customs authorities, formed a part of those stored in the stable.
