v'shop-lifting. WOMAN CAUGHT IN THE ACT. Tho .police. cases at tho Magistrate's Court were heard by Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M. Florence Grace Ward was charged with the'the'ft of two: ladies' golf jerseys and a blouse,, valued afa £a 9s. 6d., the .property of Messrs! Veitch and Allan, and of tho theft of . four woollen hats, worth ,125.,, belonging ,to Messrs.. George and Kersley. "Mr. H.F.O'Leaiy appeared for accused, and entered .a plea of guilty. • Inspector Hendry stated that the woman's .conduct while, in Messrs. Veitch and Allan's to,be watcljed, and the result was that she was observed to take, the, articles .nientionedi fin the first charge. 7 When searched', her basket contained other,. articles, and these were found' to belong •to Messrs. George and Kersley.- The defendant was maTried, and iived with her husband and children. Mr. ,o'Leajy stated that the woman had been living, in,/very - indigent, circumstances.:,.
