There is overy likelihood of the debt of .64500 umlor which tho Canterbury A. and P.-Association, is labouring being entirely wiped'off. "Anti-Tahca" has now consented to allow his name to bo mentioned, and proves to bo Mr. Andrew Rutherford, sen., of Mendip Hills. 'At tho annual meeting of the association it was decided' to issue subscription lists, and practically all the ' members of tho committee contributed handsomely to the fund. At the conclusion of tho meeting Mr. 0. B. Pemberton, the secretary, stated that, not including any sums that may bo the'result of the issuing of tho , lists, ho lias now promises of approximately ,£ISOO, nnd last Friday morning ho w0.3 extremely gratified in receiving an olfer of another ,£3OO, should it be required, from a farmer from the Plains who prefers to remain anonymous at present. This means that roughly, about .£2OOO has already been wiped off the debt, and it 1 is earnestly hoped that when all tho lists come in finally about tho end of August the debt will bo completely extinguished. .
