—— ENFORCEMENT OF SUMPTUARY LAWS. By Telegraph—P rees A ssocictioji—Copyright New York, June 29. Sumptuary laws are being enforced in Louisville and Kentucky. The police chief has ordered the arrest of all women wearing divided skirts. The women are indignant. Sumptuary laws; or regulations, are ordinances intended to restrain, or limit, the expenditure of citizens in apparel, food, furniture, ctc., to regulate the prices of commodities and the wages of labour which forbid or restrict the use of certain articles, such. as luxurious apparel.
