Mr. Morris Bell (a borough councillor) objected to amalgamation, and quotod specific rfasons why tho City Council would bo against it. Ho stated that tho council would not tako • over tho borough' tramways even as a gut, and they had protested against tho crcctiort of the power-house. The low of .£2OOO a year 011 tlio tramways was ample excuse for tho city not taking thorn fcver. Mirainar would not (?st Ijettor transit facilities under amalgamation, and lio thought it was best for tho borough to "paddle its own canoe." Mr. A. Henderson faycured amalgamation, but Mr. C. B. Bowio (an ex-counciUor) said it wns the vfry worst timo to go in for tho scheme. Finally, 011 tho motion of Mr. G.
