MERELY BANK GOSSIP.
CLUB NOTES AND CHANGES. Wellington will have to appoint a temporary full-back , to-day, L. Bridge being incapacitated by a damaged knee, sustained in the contest with Melrose. Lambert, well known as a serviceable three-quarter' and full-back in the Wellington te&ffl, has transferred to Auckland, and is now playing fur 'Varsity in that city. , Levick, an Athletic forward, made his first appearance in the field last Saturday lifter an absence of about six weeks in Sydney. His return is opportune, for Paton, another . good 'Athletic forward, Will be out of play- for some Saturdays, on. account of an injured knee. W.. Sullivan, who had his nose broken last Saturday, will be missing from the Melrose ranks to-day. Gilchrist, who is nursing an injured shoulder, is a doubtful player, and Flack, one of the threequartets, is suffering from the effects of injury. Oakcs and Twomey are also feeling the effects of strenuous play and injuries, but both will take their places in the team. Oriental's third fifteen have not been beaten yet, s *and th,eir succession of victories has only been broken by one draw (against Old Boys). They have so far scored 91 points for 6 against, and are two points in the lead for tho third grade championship. As this efficient little band of footballers have already put down the "hardest" teams in the competition, they should not be far away from top place when the season ends.
