Pearsons, Ltd., has signed a contract with Ecuador for the development of oil lands in the district. OCTOGENARIAN'S DIVORCE SUIT. ■' London, June 26. Duke Ludwig of Bavaria, an octogenarian, has begun a divorce suit. [The Duke is not a member of the reigning line. He was born in 1831, and has been'twice married, the first marriage being a morganatic one. He was married a second time in 1892.] (Rec. June 27, 9.40 p.m.) Berlin, June 27. Duke Ludwig married a ballet dancer the week after his wife died in 1891. His second wife was forty years younger than he. GOVERNOR OF GIBRALTAR. London, June 27. It is officially stated that LieutenantGeneral Sir Herbert Miles (Commander of the Staff College 1898-99, and 1900-3, Director of Recruiting and Organisation) has been appointed .Governor of Gibraltar. PIERPONT MORGAN'S ESTATE. New York, June 27. Mr. J. P. Pierpont Morgan's European estate is returned at three million, and in addition there are works of art totalling two and a half million in value. NEW SOUTH WALES RAILWAYS. Sydney, Juno 27. In connection with "a statement, cabled the other dav, that in order to meet the deficit in railway revenue, increases were to be made in the prices of season tickets and freights, representing a total increased revenue of .£147,000 per annum, Cabinet las modified the.scheme for increasing railway fares and freight, reducing the extra revenue to i! 129,000. Naval Adviser to tho High Commissioner for Australia, entertained at luncheon Rear-Admiral Patey, Commander of the Australian Navy. The guests included Sir George Reid (High Commissioner for Australia), Admiral Sir Reginald Henderson (who some time ago reported on Australia's naval defences), Sir Graham Greene (Permanent Secretary to the Admiralty), and Captain Muirhead Collins (private secretary to Sir George Reid). NATIONALISATION OF GERMANS. Berlin, June 26. The Nationalisation Bill, permitting Germans abroad to retain their nationality, instead of losing it automatically after a certain lapso of time, has been read a third time in the Reichstag.
