The "Standard of Empire" has interviewed the High Commissioners of the Dominions with reference to Alderman Hanson's action in refusing, to bind sver a prisoner at the Guildhall, in order that .he might be sent to the colonies, on the ground that tho man wa9 not the sort of person wanted in Canada or Australasia. Sir George Reid (High Commissioner for Australia) said Alderman Hanson had rendered a service to the Empire. Each division of the Empire ought, to deal with its own undesirables. The Hon. T. Mackenzie (High. Commissioner for New Zealand) said that if he heard of a proved bad character being sent to New Zealand he would cable his Government to prevent the man landing.
