HUTT AND PETONE NEWS.

Councillor -Townsend has given, -notice to move at the next meeting of the Petone Borough Council as follows:—"That the engineer be instructed to report (a) On the advisability of lighting Koro Koro with electricity, in conjunction with the sowage scheme; (b) the estimated cost of same; (c) cost of lighting and maintenance; (d) what profit, if any, on present method. 2. That the delegates of the Petone Borough Council to the Hutt Park Committee bo instructed to opposo any motion to allow l.ho sale of alcoholic liquor on the Hutt Park. HUTT SKATING RINK. The Hutt Skating Rink drew a capital crowd of liapjiy skaters last evening. So far as the season has gone, tho instructors have been kept busy in their duties with beginnors, of whom thord are quite largo numbers each night, and the management is doing its utmost for them. The ladies' half-milo handicap was got off in good style and time; the winner's nnmo will appear in to-morrow's issue. Much interest is being taken in the preparations for Saturday night's event—a men's one-mile rnco for all-comers, for which a magnificent silver cup is, to be given by the proprietor of the ICilbirnio Rink. On Thursday next there will bo an egg-and-spoon race for ladies, and also a similar race for men.
