MOTOR BUSES AS FEEDERS.
■ [£■" SCHEME APPROVED. The subject of motor buses as tram feeders—a subject which has been much in "the publio eye during the past few . daj3—was before the City Council at last , tightfe meeting. It came up in the report of the Tramway's Committee in. a recommendation reading as follows:— i • ''That the Tramways Board of ManageV jnent be authorised to purchase three •; motor buses, as feeders to tho city tramWay system, such buses to be used as considered necessary." . _ In connection with this matter, the committee reported) that they had before them the resolutions which had been passed by the executive committee of the Slunioipal Association of New Zealand on June 24. • The recommendation was being agreed to without discussion, but Councillor Jno. Fuller thought that councillors were entitled to further information on such an important matter and the same opinion was then expressed by Councillor L. M'Kenzio and several others. ■ The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) assured the meeting that the Tramway Board Sould not proceed with the purchase of 10 cars without first (riving the ways Committee an estimate of the cost. The oommittee would in turn report to the council before finally authorising the expenditure. This satisfied councillors and the recommendation was unanimously agreed to, the principle embodied in the recommendation being generally approved of.
