EDUCATION BOARD

In explaining the reason of the request, Mr. Aitken staled that the South Wellington School, which was nearest to t ie Urnhanags, was too crowded, and tile children of the Orphanage had to tramp out to the Island iiay School. 1 ills tramp in the wet weather caused much inconvenience, ond the Orphanage authorities were of opinion that a temporary snla school would meet the requirements.. The matter was referred to the inspectors for a report..' " The following resignations were accepted :-Mr. B. W. Taylor (sole tocher , Karom; Miss M. Chatwin (assistant), Ba - lance; Miss K. Caverhill (relieving assistant), Eketabuhaj and Mr. A. Kerr (probationer), Wad«stown. 4.11 It was decided to procure two hundred photo' relief maps of New Zealand* and to supply them to some hundred and seventy schools-under the board s jurisdiction.
