The board lias sought a new law providing that parties (o a marriage shall bo compelled Co produce certificates of good health and a olean constitution. Tho proposal was some time, ago greeted with laughter and scorn. The board has, however, affirmed the principle, and initiated a campaign for its adoption. _ Its. latest move is to write to the authorities of the State of Dakota. U.S.A., for information as to tho working.of a similar regulation there. The American measure is drastic, forbidding tho marriage within the State of any "common drunkard, habitual criminal, epileptic, feeble-minded person, idiot, insano person, or anyone who has been affected by hereditary insanity, pulmonary tuberculosis in any advanced stage, or any contagious or vonereal disease." It insists that bride and bridegroom shall show an affidavit that they are qualified to marry.—Sydney ■'Sun."
