HOME RULE.
PROSPECTS OF VICTORY BRIGHT, (From Our Own Correspondents) Auckland, June 23. An Auckland priest, tho Rev. Father 'Holbrook, in a letter from tho House of Commons to a local resident, has 6ome reassuring remarks to sympathisers jn Auckland on tho subject of Home Rule, and incidentally sums up the chanoes of the Liberal Government retaining office. Ho says: "I have had a grand day with Joe Dovlin, R. Hazloton, tmd P. F. French. I had lunch and dined at the House, and' had a really good time. I met tho leader, Mr. John Redmond, in the evening, and he received me most cordially. Ho is hale and hearty and nuito buoyant with success, and the bright; prospects for the future. I asked liim what message would I wing bacK to Auckland, and ho said: 'We aro most grateful to the people of New Zealand for their loyal support of tho national cause. Victory is certain unless something extraordinary, happens. Unles9 wo striko an iceberg as unexpectedly f s did tho Titanic, we shall have Home Rule, i>nd that in n very short time." "This is his message as well as 1 can remember his words. It is simply a matter of playing the waiting game to keep tho Government in power until at least May, 1911. When the Bill .becomes law it is a moral certainty that tho Liberal Administration must remain m power. They aro supported by (l) Irish members for Home Rule, (2) Scotch members for the Licensing Bill, (3) Welsh members for the Disestablishment , Bill, and (4) Labonr members for all they can got for [Labour." ■■ ___
