SIK JOSEPH WARD FAEEWELLED. By Telegraph—Prcsa Association—Copyright London, June 18. The Hon. Thomas Mackenzie, High Commissioner for New Zealand, entertained Sir Joseph Ward at luncheon at tho Trocadcro. Among the guests were Mr. Lewis Harcourt (Secretary of State for the Colonies), Lord Emmott (Parliamentary Under-Secretary for tho Colonies), Sir John Anderson (Permanent Under-Secretary for the Colonics), Lord Blyth, Sir George Eeid (High Commissioner for Australia), Sir T. B. Robinson (Agent-General for Queensland), and Sir John M'Call (Agent-General for Tasmania). Mr. Mackenzie, in proposing tho toast of "Our Guest," said that New Zealand was indebted to Sir Joseph Ward for tho Advances to Settlers Act, and in a wider sense for postal reform and the Dreadnought offer. Sir George Reid said .that so long as Sir Joseph Ward lived the Empire would have a powerful advocate. Sir Joseph WaTd, in responding, paid a tribute to tho Motherland's judiciary. Mr. Lewis Harcourt said he appreciated the references to the judiciary. He hoped shortly to have passed a Bill effecting tho Imperial Conference's wishes, when he trusted to seo a .New Zealand judge participating in the work of tho Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. He wished Sir Joseph Ward "an revoir."
