WORK FOR INEBRIATES.
' NEW REGULATIONS GAZETTED. In view of Tecent happenings at the Roto Koa Inebriates' Homo, interest attaches to the following additional regulations under the Reformatory Institutions Act (published in last night's "Gazette"), which proscribe compulsory employment for persons detained in certified inebriate homes under that Act:— "Every inmate shall, unless certified as medically unfit by the medical officer, be employed at such tasks as may ho allotted to him or her by the superintendent. Such employment shall include the following:—For male' inmates—Gardening, farm work, carpentering or other suitable trades or occupations; services in connection with the maintenance,, etc., of the home, and repairs, additions, and maintenance of buildings; navyyiug and general labour. For female inmates—laundry work, needlework, domestic services for the maintenance, etc., of the home, and such other work as may be considered suitable.
