TRAMWAY REGULATIONS.
CONFERENCE' TO BE CONVENED. —* Tramway regulations, which lvavo heon in tho hands of tho Public Wroks Department for about two years past, aro shortly to bo circulated to tho various parties oonccrncd, whether industrial unions or local bodies and other owners of tramways, for their remarks. Later on, according to tho Minister for l'ublic Works (tho Hon. W. Fraser) a conference of tho parties interested will bo convened, in order that they may consider tho regulations. It will bo remembered that in lilll a set of tramway regulations issued by tho Public Works Department was severely criticised by tho Wellington City Council, and to a lesser extent by other local bodies iai various parts of tho Dominion. Subsequently a conference of experts sat to consider tho regulations, and amended somo of their provisions. Information as to tho details of tho regulations now under consideration is being withheld meantime, except from tho parties immediately interested. Local bodies, companies, and unions will havo ample time to renew tho regulations. No date has vet been appointed for the proposed eonfe'renco, but tho Minister stated that it might be held during the coining session of Parliament.
