SUGGESTED IMPERIAL CONTROL. By Telegraph.—Press Association—Copyright (Reo. June 18, 8.25 p.m.) Brisbane, June 18. At the Chambers of Commerce Conference, it was resolved that the Commonwealth Government should open up negotiations with tth.o British, Canadian, and New Zealand Governments, with a view to jointly acquiring the control of the cable across the Atlantic from Canada to tho United Kingdom, and the reduction of the present excessive Tate for commercial cables. Senator J. Keating (Tasmania) stated that Australia was insisting on such a cable, and New Zealand was willing to co-operate. They had nothing definito from Canada, while the attitude of tho Imperial Government appeared to be contradictory.
