Blow (Under-Secretary for Public Works), accompanied by hie daughter, returned to Wellington yesterday after a visit of some weeks' duration to Australia. Mr. Blow has returned in excellent health and spirits, greatly benefited by his trip. Mr. J. Hislop, Under-Secretary for Internal Affairs, returned from New Plymouth last evening. Mr. J. Cullen, Commissioner of Police, returned from Auckland by Main Trunk express yesterday. Mr. James Ames, City Valuer, who has been granted extended leave of absence by tho City Council, owing to ill-health, will leave for Australia at tho end of tho month. He will bo accompanied by lira. Ames, and may spend tne winter months in Queensland. Mr. Fred pramond, manager for tho Union Steam Ship Company at Launceston, and formerly manager at Gisborno and Invercargill, has just recovered from a rather seve'ro illness due to blood-poison-ing. Ho is now thoroughly convalescent. Mr. J. Hunter Strauchon, Lower Hutt, who has been taking a post-graduate courso at the Dental College at Chicago f is expected to return by the Tahiti to-day. A Press Association cablegram from' London states that Aucklan<l H. Broadhoad, of Canterbury College, has obtained first-class honours in tho second division for classical tripos at tho end of his second year. Mr. A. H. Wrightson, of Mosterton, intends to leave for San Francisco en route to England by the Aorangi on Friday, next. Dr. Hutson, of Taihapo Hospital, has been appointed medioal superintendent at Wanganui, vice Dr. Hatherley, who retires on six months' leave. Mr. J. F. Hadfield has been appointed manager of the Oriental Bay Kiosk. He was formerly head steward of the Canterbury Club, Christchurch.
