ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
BAILWAY PORTER INJURED. (By Teleeraph.—Pros* Aanoolntlon.) Ounedin, Juno 17. While a railway porter named L. Jeliery was assisting in shuffting operations at Lawrence about midday to-day he was caught between a wagon and a loadingstage at the cattle-yard. Tho extent of his injuries is not yet known, but they are regarded as serious. WOMAN'S BODY IN RIVER. Wanpanul, June 17. An inquost was held this afternoon into tho circumstances of the death of Sarah Billinghurst, widow, aged (S7, whoso body was found in tho river. Deceased, who acted as a housekeeper, had l>een missing since Juno 3. She was not of strict temperance habits, and she had just collectel her old age pension. Thero was no wvidence to show, how she got into tho river and a verdict was returned accordingly.
GIRL SEVERELY BURNED. Auckland, Juno 17. A school-girl named May Obuglcin was admitted to tho hospital to-night suffering from severo burns about tho body. Tho girl wont outsido the houso with a lighted candle, which set fire to her clothing. Cries for help wcro heard, and tho flames were extinguished. After receiving medical attention, tho girl was sent to the hospital. Her condition is regarded as serious. DEATH OP A FARM-HAND. (By Oorrtscondent.) | Feilding, Juno 17. i Tho body of an elderly man in tho employ of Mr. Latham, of Aorangi, was -discovered this morning. Tho namo of the deceased, who has been! working on Mr. Latham's farm for tho past few months, is unknown. Mr. Latham missed him this morning, and proceeded to tho hut, where tho dead body was found on the floor.
