BAD WEATHER AT SEA.

The south-easterly galo which prevailed on the East Coast on Friday and Saturday last, considerably disorganised coastal shipping and several vessels wcro kto in arriving at their destinations, whilst others arc still weatherbound at coastal ports. Reports received by tho Northern Company's steamer Apanui, which reached Auckland yesterday morning (somo 30 hours late) from northern ports aro tothe effect that tho galo was ono of the vrorst experienced in tho north for so'ne timo. Acting on advice from tho hghtkeeper.<j at Cape Brott and Cape Maria Van Diomcn tho master of tho Apanui decided to remain at Houhora until the weather moderated. Tho steamer left Houhora on Saturday morning for Auckland, and although the gale had then moderated. » high sea was running. fho Isorthorn Company's steamer Clansman was also detained in the north, being compelled to shelter at Whangaxoa. Sho Auckland early yesterday morning somo four hours behind her usual timo. Tho schooner Greyhound, which was duo nt Auckland last Soturday from northern ports, is weatherbound at Whangaroflj and is not expected to arrive here until tomorrow. The coaster Waiotahi has been detained at Mercury Bay. Tho gale does not appear to havo been felt to amy great extent south of Auckland as tho Union Company s steamer Maitai which arrived up to timo from southern ports yesterday morning, reports that southerly winds and moderate weather were experienced on tlio run up tho ccast from Gisborno. Tlio Craig steamer Inga encountered ttto full force of tlio galo on tho passago from Kaipara to Auckland. She left Kaipara on Thursday afternoon and, after rounding North Capo, tho worst of tho galo was experienced. A heavy sea wra running while the wind >lew with hurricano lorco. Tho Inga was unablo to make much headway and Captain Bull eventually headed Ills vessel for Tom Bowling Bay whero sho sheltered for 15 hours., Sho arrived at Auckland yesterday morning.
