MONEY LENDERS CRITICISED.
4 LARGE LOANS TO YOUNG MEN. (Br Telograpli.—Pres* Association.) Christchurch, June 16. The practioe of lending young, men largo sums of money was commented upon by Jlr H W. Bishop, S.M., this morning. Th 4 case was a judgment summons action in which defendant, a young man of about 25 years of a-ge, owed money on a promissory noto hold by a money-lender, Tlio debtor denied that he followed racing and that ho was addicted to drink, mil in answering a further question, said that his previous employer had suspended him "simply because of a difference. In deciding not to mako an order, Mr. Bishop said that largo sums of money should not bo lent to irresponsible young men It induced them to go to racos, and 'to take to drink. Though lio did not Bay that this had occurred in tho present ease.
