Ronald, wife of ' William Ronald, a retired farmer, well \ known in public life in Southland. Mrs. , Jlonald was proceeding to ht'r home when ■ she had a heart seizure. She was taken tu her daughter's but died a :few hours later. Mrs. Ronald- was .; a daughter of: the late James Wilson,'who ■ was Speaker of the Southland Provincial i Council ,in the early days. M'Cullock,, who owned the car,, was driving. In preparing to negotiate a steep hill, which is approached'with, a turn, M'Cullock took too wide a-sw,eep, and the.wheel of the « car struck, tho concrete edge of the cul■vert. Thojcar turned over and over/and ■was badly wrecked.' Pratt was pinned beneath, while M'Cullock; was thrown out. Their cries ' for assistance were, heard by neighbours, and, when'they arrived, it was necessary to get young Pratt; out. He was unconscious. Later, .when . medical help was obtained, it was .found that he was very seriously injured about the tiead.
