FATAL QUARREL IN A BAR.
SYDNEY SHOOTING CASE. Br Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Sydney, Juno 11. At the inquest concerning the death of the man Speed (not Steed) who wounded a man named Clinton in a hotel lxw and thon fatally shot himself, Clinton gave* evidence that tho deceased had ordered him to clean mud off his boots. Witness refused to do so, and Speed then asked him to have a drink. Witness replied that ho would not, and after insults had been received tho shooting followed. Tho publican with whom Speed stayed deposed that sines May 28 last, Speed had spent the greater part of a cheque for .£lO9, drawing sometimes ,£3O a day. His effects at the hotel included a passage ticket to England by a, steamer that sailed last Saturday. A verdict of suicide was returned.
