Sir Edward Carson,*leader of the Irish Unionists, in a speech at Glasgow on tho Homti Kule Bill, advised his fellow-coun-trymen in Ulster to arm themselves as well as they could to repel tho attempt to filch from them tho elementary rights of. citizenship/ If violenco resulted from his speeches he was, ho said, willing to be made responsible. Honour and conscience wero more valuable than his Privy Councillor's oath. He would prefer to bo stripped of all honours rather than fail to do his part in tho service of his countrymen.
