HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER.
LAKE COLERIDGE SCHEME. (By Telegraph.—Freii^Aaioolntloo.) Christchurch, June 13. The machinery for tho hydro-electrical installation at Lake Coleridge, which . is being landed at present from the steamer' Courtfield, represents a total value of closo upon ,£13,000. To-day a start was made with the work of forwarding it to the site of the works at Lake Coleridge. It is being taken by train to Coalgate, and from that town by traction engines to the lake. To-day six . transformer-tanks were dispatched to Coalgate, and six were sent out to the sub-station and distributing point, at present under construction at the Aldington Railway Workshops. A further shipment of machinery is coming to hand by the steamer Braunfels, which is expected at Lyttelton about Juno 20. Tho foundations of the sub-station at tho Aldington "Workshops are being put in at present. Negotiations are in progress just now between the Public Works Department and the Christchurch Tramway Board, in respect to the Department supplying the board with, current for tramway purposes. It is hoped that some definite proposals from the Department will bo ready .for submission to the board at an early date.
