■ Landowners who have been agitating for the destruction of thistles will be interested to lcorn what is being done in France. According to the "Mark Lano Express," the landowners, tenants, all publio bodies, and private establishments, rail< way companies, ctc., in tlie district at Pas-de-Calais have been given notico to destroy the thistles before they come into flower on all lands under their control The thistles must bo destroyed by July 1, They must be cut, mown, or torn up, and burnt on 'the spot,, if it oiu safely be dono. Any offender will be summoned beforo a magistrate, ,and if the work is not performed within the time mentioned bv him the work will bo carried out by oiDciala at the oxpense of the persons in default. Home papers have given notices of an improvement in the haudling of grainsheaves by the use of tho "Stewart sheafloader." This is tho invention of a Scotchman, Mr. A. Simmers, and will load a large baskct-ratk in two minutes, against twenty minutes by hand-pitching, doing the work better ana cleaner. It is manufactured at Winnipeg, and is bcinjj widely used in America.
