IMPROVED SEPARATORS,
NO LIFTING OP HEAVY BUCKETS. (Published by Arrangement, Josoph Nathan and Co., Ltd., aro again well to tiio foro with their now wllhnown agencies, the "Pump" and "UiaMo Separators. It is stated that tlierr sales last y.car wcro more than double- what they were the previous vnr, and, judging by. the crowded stand, tnero seems oyery prospect of another record year. Ihoy are showing the separators in all sizes, and guaranteeing the capacity of tho machines, which can bo used either by hand or in conjunction with lnilkuwniachines. b A feature they aro introducing within the next two or three months is a now Diabplo . machine, with a capacity of 15 gallons per hour. This littlo machine is guaranteed by Wie agents to skim accurately and cleanly right up to tl,o named quantity, and as the price will only bp M, and tho machine will to mushed as well as tho 27-g.ilb'i Diabolo,' there is no Houbt but what Joseph Nathan and Co. aro right in cxl»cting a huge sale for this mnchiue. Tho "Pump" Separator is so well-known now_ that it seems almost unnecessary to give any further particulars about it, but for the benefit of those who hrve not closely examined the machines, a description of a few of the more important features may bo of interest. As tho namo itself implies, thoro is no necessity for tho lifting of tho milk. Tho ciilk going through a milking-machine with releaser attachment has not to bo handled from any one stag© of tho proceedings. From tho releaser it runs into the can set at tho bottom of tho pump on tho separator, and tho pump feeds itself in regular quantities. This pump attachment is probably more useful in Iho hand machines than in tho power, in so much as no matter whether the person operating the machine is in a hurry to get away, or is turning irregularly, tho separating is always tho 6ame, absolutely down to .01 or .02. Tho machine is so fixed, and tho pump so regulates tho flow of milk, that no more than the proper quantity can enter the bowl, and should tho operator be called away at all, tho bowl itself will revolve free of all goars, and tho pump stops its operations, so that there is no milk running through the bowl until tho bowl has revolved at the speed the makers ciaim that it should do. This automatic releaso and automatic'feed of tho pump practically makes home separation a pleasurable work instead of a tiring, irksome labour, and with the aid of a "Pump" Separator ■ a woman or a ohild can do tho whole of tho separating, booauso there is no lifting of heavy milk buckets as there is in other makes.
These machines have now been on the market for four years, and as proof of their popularity ' and lasting qualities, the agents oan produoe hundreds of festimonials from satisfied users, and have shown proof that the orders are greater by fivo times now than they were two years ago. In their new premises in Queen litreet; P*lmer»ton North, the agents arc holding a full stock of all sizes of machines ana a. most complete range of all extra so that in case of accident a user con got, on wiring to the agents, any part of the machine replaced. Another feature on Messrs. .Nathan's stand is the "Treloar" Milking Machine with Releaser. This machine is manufactured at Hamilton, and the agency for Manawatu and Hawko's Bay has been accepted by J. Nathan and Co., J.td., their acccptanoo being in itself a guaran-
teo to tho farmer that tho machino will do all (hat the makers claim for it, tmd will liavo no harmful cffccta upon tho cows, t Its triangular outside barred t/iafc cup is a novel feature in this muehino, and tho agents aro in receipt of many letters from users stating that it milks more quickly and cloauly than other machines that havo been used, and riU'f having used it for two years, it has no 111-eflects whatever upon tho cowb. Another novelty on ftia stand is tho now "JOiabolo" Patent Mill;. Filter, a novelty from Sweden, which has only just arrived. Its grent points aro largo capacity, thorough filtration, simple ldjurtincnt, and the easy manner in which it is cleaned. It is claimed for this filler by the makers—who aro also tho makers of the famous "Diabolo" Separator—that it will filter a greater quantity of millt more thoroughly and more quickly tlinn any filter that hns yet been placed on the market, and seeing that tliero have been So many complaints about the quality -of the butter and cheeso on the London market this year, this filter siuuld commend itself to tho attention of all dairy farmers in , tho oountry, It is practically unbreakable, and should Inst, rcitli caro, for many years. Tho makers nro lilyornl in their offer, by ■■ allowing nn> intending purchaser to havo a free trial.
