But practically tho whole, of this effort has liifberto been directed toward increasing tho production of crops. Our attention has been concentrated nlmost exclusively on gciting better farming In the beginning tliia was unquestionably the right thins to do. The farmer must first of nil crow Rood crops in order to support himself and his family, But when this has been secured, ths effort for belter farming should ceose (o stand alone, and should lx- accompanied by the effort for belter business and better living on the farm. Tt is at least ns important that the farmer should Ret tho largest possible return in money, comfort, and social advantages from the crops lie grow«, as that lie sliould get tho largest possible return in crops from tho land ho fa'rni" Agriculture is not (lie whole of c'ounlrv life.
