Mr. Frabbe, an accountant at the National Bank, giving evidence under compulsion (despite the fact that ho was bound on oath not to reveal particulars of customers' accounts), said that cheques covering the purchase of three thousand American Marconi shares had been drawn on a special account different to Lord Murray of Elibank's private account. He read a letter by Lord Murray showing that tho special account was a political one. Captain Murray (Lord Murray's brother), an alert, soldierly figure, was evidently determined not to go beyond the written statement previously cabled. He explained that, as the committee was aware that Lord Murray of Elibank had purchased American Marconi shares, he (witness) had not thought-it .necessary to mention the purchase of others, considering that the number of shares made Little 'differenoo, Regarding the disclosures in tho Matin case, he wrote to Lord Murray, saying that he thought
It would be unnecessary for him to return. The captain added that he had heard that Former, who became bankrupt, had absconded with oertain securities other than American Marconi shares. Witness refused to say whether these concerned Mr. Illingworth (Chief Liberal Whip).
