Tho definition of a. gentleman lias puzzled many; but what of the "lady"? "St Martin's le Grand" explains in tho "Daily Chronicle."
A depositor, on opening an account, described herself as a factory hand. When withdrawing money sho gave her description as "lady." The postmaster was asked to bo careful as to identity bsforo paying the money. Ilis reply was, he was quite satisfied; it was tho depositor's way of saying she was ou/t of work.
