PETITION JIB TRUSTS. A matter of interest ivm . recently brought before the Supremo Court in tho shape of a petition by tho Public .Trustee to determino tho trusts on which a certain sum of money was to bo held. In January last a subscription of JE242 was raised by the residents of Foxton and the liana-
watu flaxmiils employees 011 behalf of tho widow and three infant children of William Lacey, who had (lied leaving his family in needy circumstances. Tho deceased had enteral into an agreement for tho purchase of a house and _section ot land in Foxton, and at tho tiino of his death there was an amount of about .C 250 still owing on tho agreement. The Court made an order that the subscription money bo invested in the Public Trust Office, and that the Public Trusteo should pay thereout the yearly instalments duo on tho agreement. Tho widow it! to have the use of tli© property until the completioh of tho purchase, when it is to be transferred to her with any balance of tho subscription fund. In the event of her death lrcfore tho completion of the purchase, the fund and property is to bo held by Hie Public Trusteo in trust tor the infant children of the deceased.
