THE CLYDE'S OUTPUT. What has been in soveral ways tho most notable month in the history of Clyde shipbuilding is now closing (wrote the correspondent of the London "Shipping Gazottc" on April 28).' On only two occasions has tho tonnage launched on the river within four weeks reached six figures. The first was in June, 1906—tlie Lueitania month— wlien vessels of 124,544 tons wero floated; and the second is last month, when the total is 27 vceaola of 119,290 tons. In tno case of each of these months thero were two 6hips of exceptional size and interest. In June, 1906, there wore the Lusitania and tho battleship Agamemnon, and this month there have been the Aquitania. and tho Allan liner CaJgarian. Thero were nine more vessels in June, 1906, than there have been in April. 1913. This accounts for the fact that, despite the great tonnage of tho Aauitanio, the record for all month 6 has not been broken. The total for tho year up to date is 68 vessels °r ton?, as compared with 80 vefiwlfl of 199,104 tons lost year—which was tho previous highest for the four months. Tho nr£ lct ' k* l6 Tlmv - therefore, a start of over 38,000 tons, so that, unless there is eomo interruption in trade, a record at tho end of the year should bo assured. Only a few orders were reported during April, however, and inquiries aro falling off in a very significant manner. MESS/TABLE GOSSIP*. Mr. J. M'Lean, engineer of the Kapiti, I? vc!i sel at Wellington yesterday. £* * Armstrong has filled the vacancy. Captain F.
