OTAKI NOTES.
Carl Williams, a native of Sweden, and popularly known as "Charlie," was found yesterday morning burnt to death at Waitohu. YVilliams occupied a small whare, his mate, Wright, occupying a tent opposite. At 7 o'clock on Tuesday niglij; tho latter noticed a whare, used for cooking only, on fire, but as it was old, took no notice. In tho morning he missed Williams, and on searching for him found his remains in tlie ashes. Constablo Satherley brought tho remains into town, where an inquest will be held to-day. Tho dead man was over 70 years of age, and an old age pensioner. Tho Otaki Ladies' Hookey Club held asuccessful euchre party and dance in the Town Hall on Tuesday. The Rev. C. Smith, who shortly leaves the district, was on Tuesday night presented by the members of tho Boys' Club with a case of pipes.
