RUN OVER BY A TRAIN. COAIWORKER KILLED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Woodvillo, Juno 11. i .An elderly man named Alt. Symonds Vwas run into by tho 7 o'clock train to 'palmerston to-night, and killed outright. |Simonds Had been working all day shifting coal at tho gasworks, and was going homo along the railway line. The accident happened just outside of Woodville. Deceased was aged about G5. Ho leaves a widow and two daughters. Both 'daughters are married. ' FOUND DEAD IN 'A; DRAIN. Palmerston N., June 11. The body of n mail named Thomas l'ick•rd, aged 75, was found in a drain at KaiVanga, seven miles from the town to-day. pcceased left his home in Palmerston last, fevening to go to tho pictures, but seerils to have wandered away to the placewhere the body was found.

Ee was caught by, tho train and dragged some distance, being practically 'tilled outright. EDITH RENNODENE'S DEATH. Christchurch, Juno 11. At the- inquest, before Jlr. H. W. 53i?hop, Coroner, touching the death of 1 Edith Amelia Remiodeno,\ the Coroner re- • turned a verdict that deceased was accidentally killed through falling, from a George Hunt, traveller, said he was a passenger bv the 3.15 p.m. train from L.vttelton. At about tho Opawa etation deceased passed him, as if passing through the train. Sho slipped on to tno platform of a first-class carriage, and her ■hat blew olf. She let go her grip ot tho fcand-rail to try and catch lxer liat, and the wind turned her round, and carried her backwards on to the other line, on which a train was travelling. Tho tram Vlid not touch her at all. Richard Knighton, a ganger on tho Lyt- . telton line, said ho found deceased lying on tho otlier set of rails to winch. tho train was on. ' Sho was quite dead. In nnswer to the coroner, witness stated that the train - was travelling •at between twenty-five and thirty miles an hour at tho timo. __lj_ When endeavouring to board a Wallaco Street trarocfir, -a man named Alexander Keid received injuries to his face, which necessitated Ins return to his-home, No. 7 Ttutchinson Street. T.ho tram had just let the Wallace Street terminus, when Rcid attempted to board it, and. in doing ho stopped and fell to .the ground. Dr. Boworbank attended tho injured man.
