DICK ARNST AGAIN.
TO CHALLENGE THE WORLD.
That "Dick Arnst, ex-champion sculler of the world, is not through with sculling was proved by the cablegram received a few'aays' ago, stating that he was issuing a challenge to anyone in the world for the championship. Dr. Thacker, who has come to Sydney as one of the managers of tho New Zealand Rugby tcague team, and who was one of Arnst's backers for the race with Barry on the Zambesi, persuaded the ex-cham-pion to think seriously again of regaining the laurels he lost to Barry on the Thames (says the Sydney "Daily Telegraph" of Saturday). ... Dr. Thacker has no doubt as to Arnst 9 ability, fit and well, to beat .the world on i the water.! Buit he says definitely that Arnst must place himself unreservedly m the hands of Harry Floyd or some other equally competent manager, else he will not consent to be one of his backers. Subsequently Dr. Thacker, stated that Arnst would meet the winner of the BarryPearce contest either in Australia or England. . . "I will become one of Arnst s backers, mlded Dr. Thacker, "provided that Harry Floyd or a man equally competent is to look after our ex-champion." . . • >. Harry Floyd, • who was standing , by, Cgreed that Arnst at his best was the best.
