FOUND DROWNED. The dead body of an unknown man was yesterday morning found floating in the harbour near the Thorndon Esplanade, and was removed to tho morgue by Constable Thompson. The bodv, which has not.yet been identified, was that of a man of the labouring class, about GO years of age, and when found was clothed in a suit of dark brown material, and n singlebreasted dark ovorcoat. Deceased was about sft. Tin. high, with dark hiir and heavy moustache turning gray, and blue eyes. No marks of violence were found on tho tody, which had apparently not bceu in the water for more than twentyfour hours. An inquest will bo held on Friday morning. ' BABY'S SUDDEN DEATH. The death occurred suddenly yesterday morning of a child named Elsio May Parker, Gi months of age. The child had been suffering from a cold for a few days. In the morning sho was sleeping in a cot at' her parents' residence, 59 Wellington Road, Kilbirnie. About seven o'clock the mother woke up, and found that tho child had passed away. As no medical certiiicate of death , was givfin, an inquest will be held, this morning. FALL AT THE HURDLES. (By Tclegraph.-Preas Association,l Napier, June 10. A jockey named Poole (or Paul) was seriously injured at Napier Park racecourse this morning. Ho was riding Kirkby over hurdles when the horso fell, landing on the boy and remaining on him several minutes before help arrived. The boy's spine was injured, jnd his condition is serious. He was Temoved to the Napier Hospital. RAILWAY FATALITY. Christchurch, June 10. By an accident on tho train which'left Heatlicoto for Lyttoltion shortly after three o'clock this afternoon, Miss Edith Marion Renidene, about 56 years of age, lost her life. A strong wind was blowing as the train was leaving the station, and i Jliss Rennidenc's hat was blown off. In attempting to recover it she fell off ,tho plalfnrni of the carriage, and was run over, death being almost instantaneous.
